Okinawa--really?

I was reading HuffPo yesterday and ran across an article by John Murtha in which he laments the fact that Hillary isn't with him on his Iraq solution. They publish him a lot. I wonder if he has to pay? Anyway it got me to laughing for a couple of reasons. Several months ago John was on Meet the Press going over his plan when Tim Russert asked him who would take our troops if we needed to keep them handy after redeployment as he was suggesting. Now understand that he had been formulating this plan for months and must have thought a lot about it. Regardless, he said "Okinawa". I'm not kidding. I could tell that Tim Russert was having a hard time not giggling. Tim couldn't even come up with a follow up question he was so caught off guard. That's what Murtha came up with after months of thinking. Anybody who supports this guy has no business calling Bush dumb. Of course on the comments on HuffPo they were defending Murtha as a war hero and criticising those who criticised him. The same deal they did concerning the Swift Boat Vets. Unfortunately they don't give the same benefit to Duke Cunningham. Incidentally, I don't either. Cunningham is where he should be. As a current conservative supporter I want all those that I could support held to a high standard. And even though Benedict Arnold was a Revolutionary War officer and hero, it is no compliment today to be called a Benedict Arnold. And it is no honor to be called a John Murtha. We appreciate your service and respect you for it but it doesn't give you a get out of jail free card. I'm not voting for someone who couldn't beat Forrest Gump at checkers.

While I'm here let me let you in on a little secret about John Kerry. I have been given a copy of his military service records that he won't release. I can't tell you how I got them but does the name Sandy Berger ring any bells? As soon as Dan Rather verifies them for me I will release them but I'll let you know the highlights now. I was very surprised about what I found. I was skeptical about it since he won't release them thinking there must be something incriminating there. But actually there is evidence that he deserved 11 more purple hearts (1 for each day he cut himself shaving), an Oscar for the documentary he made of him killing a Viet Namese soldier and another for his 1 man performance in front of the Congressional Inquiry Committee, a Pulitzer for his screenplay of the documentary, and the Heisman Trophy. But John doesn't want this to come out and bring glory to himself because of his humility. I think we can all agree that when you think of John Kerry, you think humility. He would rather be known for his work in the Senate. I know he has missed a lot of days and votes and has no real legislative track record, but he knows that if he showed up and did his job, he would make the other Senators look and feel bad. That John is always thinking of others. I do so hope that he gets the Democratic nomination so that the country can once again show him how much we love him.
